The PrimaLuna EVO 300-4H redefines the performance of modern power amplifiers by introducing an advanced hybrid topology that seamlessly combines a top-notch tube preamp with the raw power of solid-state amplifiers. Unlike classic hybrids on the market, which often suffer from a sonic mismatch between the two technologies, Floyd Design engineers use exclusive MOSFET transistors that behave almost identically to tubes in terms of their dynamic characteristics. The EVO 300-4H delivers an incredible 2 x 100 W into 8 Ohms (or 2 x 150 W into 4 Ohms) in stereo mode. With a single flip of a switch, this beast transforms into a purebred Monoblock capable of driving demanding speaker systems with a stable 220 W into 8 Ohms or a monumental 300 W into 4 Ohms.
The amplifier's sound philosophy is based on the principle of "tubes in front, solid state in the back". The input section uses six top-of-the-line 12AU7 tubes (two input and four driving). A dual pair of driving tubes drastically lowers the input impedance of the power stage, which delivers explosive dynamics, a huge soundstage and rich natural harmonics. The output section consists of cascaded JFET transistors from Linear Systems and exotic Exicon MOSFET transistors, custom-made exclusively for Floyd Design. This provides that recognizable low-end grip ("grip"), unsurpassed membrane control and punch, while the midrange spectrum fully preserves the warmth and texture of the tube tradition. For optimal adaptation to the preamp, a dedicated relay is built in, which allows switching the signal gain (Gain switching between 24 dB or 30 dB), while the tube gain remains completely stable.
The inside of the device reflects true High-End construction. The entire signal path of the preamplifier section is hand-wired using the Point-to-Point hand-wiring technique, using exclusively Swiss silver-plated oxygen-free copper (OCC) conductors with a Teflon dielectric for the ultimate signal transfer speed. The circuit incorporates legendary premium Japanese TAKMAN resistors, valued for their extremely low noise and high linearity, and extremely expensive European-made tin foil capacitors.
Three massive, hermetically sealed toroidal transformers and a pair of exclusive AC Offset Killer circuits ensure completely silent operation and the absence of any mains hum. The amplifier offers both classic RCA and true balanced XLR inputs, allowing for perfect integration with the world's best preamplifiers, and your speakers (including demanding Magnepan ribbons or Martin-Logan electrostatics) will shine in a completely new light.
